I made a trip into the Barr Smith Library today to do some research for my special study. I am still considering looking and comparing the treatment or lives of women in two different societies or eras, and collected some texts (see bibliography) which will hopefully be valuable sources for my study. I have been brainstorming questions, and have listed some of my ideas below:
"How were the women of Sparta treated differently to those of other Greek societies of the same period?"
"How did the rights of women of Ancient Greece develop between a certain time period? e.g. 500-300 BC"
My basic idea is to either discuss how the treatment of women differed over two societies/cultures, or to look at the development of womens rights over time. I am still unsure and open to ideas, and am also aware that my ideas could possibly be too similar to some of our class work, but I am really interested in this topic and hope to be able to research it further for my study.
There is no need to be concerned about the topic overlap with class.
ReplyDeleteFor the question tey:
To what extent did women in Sparta enjoy a fuller involvement in the life of their polis as compared to the women of Athens by 450 BC? Why did this situation develop?
See how this goes as a working question. Maybe the second pasrt can evolve into the first part and may not be necessay as a separate question, and may cause word count issues.
